Eni SPA subsidiary EniMed has let a contract to Saipem SPA for transportation and installation of an offshore gas pipeline connecting four wells in Argo and Cassiopea fields to the Sicilian coast.

The 60-km, 14-in. gas pipeline will be installed by Castorone and Castoro 10 pipelay vessels in 660 m maximum water depth. The Saipem 3000 vessel will install umbilicals connecting Cassiopea wells to the Prezioso platform.

The contract is worth about 300 million euro (US$306.81 million).

Construction of the complex in Sicily’s Gela area that will handle gas from offshore Argo and Cassiopea fields began in 2021.
